NOTE

Some of these activities have recommenced, perhaps subject to some COVID restrictions.  The status of activities is subject to change.

For further information on any of the following, contact the Office (use Location and Contacts above for details).

Small Groups

Some recommenced.  There are a number of small groups that regularly meet with different emphases.  Some are for studying the Bible, others for Prayer and some for sharing on different topics.  There are groups that meet during the day, others at night; some meet at the church and others meet in homes.

Port Uniting Playgroup

Recommenced. This playgroup is organised and supported by a dedicated team of volunteers from Port Uniting Church. It is a relaxed, welcoming environment for children and their families.

We run during school terms on Thursdays from 9.30 – 11.30.

We aim to provide a loving, caring environment for parents and children to have a safe and happy time together. This includes:

  • A safe environment in which children can play with their parents (or caregivers), other children or on their own
  • Some play experiences that children may not have at home
  • Opportunities for children and parents to make friends, particularly those who may be new to the area
  • Opportunities for children to interact with grandparent figures
  • Enabling members to support and encourage each other

At playgroup the children are supervised by their parents (or caregivers) at all times. Church members are here to help set up, plan activities and get to know and support young families in our community. Everyone helps with pack up, including the children.

As a church-led playgroup we celebrate Christmas and Easter, sing grace before morning tea (when covid safe), and sometimes include Christian themes or bible stories in our program. We welcome anyone from the community to join the playgroup, regardless of religious, cultural or other background.

To enable the playgroup to occasionally buy new equipment and craft supplies etc we ask each family to contribute a small donation of $2 per week or $20 per term where possible.

To be Covid safe we will, weather permitting:

  • spend time outdoors, providing a variety of free play activities and opportunities to do crafts, read stories, do puzzles etc in small groups
  • ask that families bring their own snacks and drinks. Volunteers will provide tea or coffee for parents
  • practise social distancing and hand hygiene
  • ask that anyone who is unwell or has been a close contact of someone with covid does not attend playgroup
  • ask that anyone who tests positive to COVID after attending playgroup informs the leaders so they can take the necessary action to address infection control.

Please register your interest ASAP by email to office@portmacquarie.unitingchurch.org.au or calling the church office 6581 2414.
